Here is another terrific update! Thanks Lisa!
After I graduated from NHHS, I went to college at UCSD. Being the horrible pen pal that I was, as far as all of my friends were concerned, I also fell off the face of the earth. I am trying to fix that though (I'm much better with e-mail), so drop me a note sometime!
Anyway, within a quarter I decided that science wasn't the route for me after all. I changed my major to sociology and I also had a minor in general literature. I met my future husband, Steve, during my sophomore year.
We had to work a few things out (he was politically conservative and Southern Baptist and I was politically liberal and Jewish), but we figured it all out and were married straight out of college in August of 1989.
Our first child, Deborah, was born in 1992, but unfortunately passed away 36 hours later due to a freak accident at birth. Our sons, Matthew and Michael, were born in 1994 and 1997. I can't believe that I'm old enough to have a kid in Junior High!
After the kids were born, we decided to have me stay home with them. I took up Tae Kwon Do as a hobby and now have a First Degree Black Belt (my husband's a Second Degree, so he can still take me in a fight). Michael is now a Junior Black Belt, and is hoping to become a First Degree when he turns 16.
I have applied my education some during the last few years. The kids went to a parent co-op school for three years, and I taught Science, History, Math & Literature during those 3 years. Now, they go to a private school, and I'm a school aide there, mostly just to be around them. I also do volunteer work at the school and I'm very active at my church (sing in the choir, work in Sunday School, etc).
That's pretty much my story. Hope to hear from all of you soon!
